  • Wellness Centre support program offered at West Elgin Secondary School
  • Therapeutic Counselling support for youth ages 5 to 21 and their families
  • School-based group programs that build on student and school strengths
  • Cooking programs for youth in our Teaching Kitchen with the Dietitian
  • Summer skill building and recreational groups
  • Support Groups for youth offered based on need
  • Community education

Check out the program details. Any questions, call reception and you will be directed to the appropriate staff.

How can a Social Worker Help Me?
Social workers provide counselling and other services that you may need when a child has a physical or emotional health problem. Some of the ways they help are:

  • Supporting you during periods of upset
  • Offering individual counselling for children and teens
  • Counselling parents and families
  • Providing support groups
  • Linking you to community resources
  • Advocating for you in the community

What happens when I see a Social Worker?
The Social Worker will want to understand your situation and the difficulties you face. Together, you will identify the problems you want to solve and work closely to plan and achieve a solution. Counselling is not a magical cure for life's difficulties, but social workers can help you find ways to cope.

The Social Work Mental Health team offers free, confidential counselling for youth and their families in the following areas:

  • Family Conflict
  • Relationship problems with friends
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Eating Disorders
  • Self-Harm
  • Suicide Ideation
  • Grief
  • Unplanned Pregnancy
  • Substance Abuse
  • Other general teen and youth concerns

Appointments are necessary for all counselling services.

Please contact main reception by phone for more information on how to refer.
