Our Mission

WECHC believes in a client’s right to have a say in their own mental health services.

WECHC strives to promote, restore and enhance mental health for
individuals, families and communities in West Elgin.

To achieve this mission, the team, which includes a Community Health Worker (CHW) and a Seniors' Social Worker (SW), provides services which:

  • Are client centered and family and community focused
  • Prioritize the needs of people who are most seriously affected by mental health issues, and their families and people who are in acute need
  • Are planned, delivered and evaluated in partnership with the people and communities served by the team
  • Are based on best practices and ongoing evaluation
  • Make the most effective, efficient and creative use of their resources
  • Are designed to reduce barriers and increase accessibility
  • Are responsive and coordinated

What We Do

  • WECHC continues to seek out and create community partnerships to create a shared service approach to meeting the needs of individuals and families with mental health needs in our community
  • The Integrated Mental Health Teams are responsible for providing counselling and support services/resources to individuals and their families presenting with mental health issues
  • WECHC strives to ensure that these core services are linked to other services and supports within geographical areas
  • Services provided by WECHC, its partner providers and other services in the community will include: consultation, education, mental wellness initiatives and liaison/referral services

How can we help?

Sometimes the challenges we face in our lives become too overwhelming to manage alone. We may need someone to talk to who can help us find solutions.

Counselling is offered to individuals, families or groups to:

  • Restore, maintain and enhance functioning by mobilizing strengths
  • Provide psychosocial education to facilitate independence and informed decision making
  • Optimize coping skills
  • Link individuals to necessary resources
  • Act as advocates to community agencies
