Did you know that foot problems affect over half the population? Prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment require expertise and practical skills.
Chiropodists undergo extensive training to meet these requirements. A Bachelor's Degree in Science, plus a three year Chiropody Program is generally undertaken in Canada. Chiropodists are government regulated health professionals, just like your dentist or doctor.

Putting Your Best Feet Forward!
The Chiropodist is an important member of the clinical team. He/she is responsible for early detection of many diseases and plays a key role in preventing and treating those aspects which affect the feet and lower limbs.
Studies in North America and Europe have shown that with regular treatment from a chiropodist, elderly clients remain ambulatory and active in their own homes for a longer period of time. For clients with diabetes, regular foot care can prevent serious complications such as ulceration, gangrene, loss of limbs and even loss of life associated with diabetic complications.
The chiropodist treats a wide array of foot problems from foot pain, ulcerations, warts, disorders of the skin, corns, calluses and child and adult gait problems. The chiropodist also does biomechanical assessments and prescribes foot and foot/ankle orthoses. Active individuals of all ages also require the professional help of a chiropodist to prevent and treat various sports related injuries.
